The City of Dodgeville is the largest community in Iowa County and home of the oldest courthouse. Dodgeville is a great place to live and visit. Our charming shopping district, is “At the Heart of It All” and features an array of boutiques, cheese store, a variety of dining experiences, pubs and a historic movie theater. There are a variety of activities to keep you entertained year-round including the Annual Grilled Cheese Championship, Dodgeville Dodge Fest, Off the Vine Wine Walk and Farmer’s Appreciation Day just to mention a few. Dodgeville offers 5 city parks which include several playgrounds and recreational opportunities. Centennial Park, being our most popular, contains a swimming pool with a small child wading pool, 3 reservable park shelters, playground equipment, tennis court and baseball diamond. In additional Harris park offers volleyball courts, basketball courts, softball diamonds as well as a state-of-the-art walking trail. Visit our Parks page for more information!
Dodgeville is located among the unglaciated hills of Wisconsin’s Driftless area and offers a wonderful region to explore. Three miles north of the city, Governor Dodge State Park offers camping, a waterfall, lakes and 5,000 acres of fun. For an additional getaway just up, the road you can experience and explore the House on the Rock attraction. The House on the Rock offers, for your viewing, unique historical collections which includes displays and galleries which you can explore. Located just a short drive from The House on the Rock attraction, is The House on the Rock Resort which offers comfortable suites with impressive views of the countryside. Relax by their pool, whirl pools, or relax at the spa. If you are in for a little more exertion you can try out their golf course.
The community of Spring Green is just down the road on Highway 23 from Dodgeville and offers several attractions to full fill your sense of adventure. Highlights to visit are: Taliesin Preservation, American Players Theater, Frank Lloyd Wright Visitor Center, Spring Green Preserve, Tower Hill State Park and the Spring Green General Store just to mention a few.
Folklore Village is just north off of Highway 151 down the road from Dodgeville and includes a national recognized folk arts and culture center. Check out their website for upcoming events!
Head south on Highway 151 to our neighboring community of Mineral Point you will have the opportunity to explore and experience the Historic Site of Pendarvis, Mineral Point Railroad Museum, art and antique galleries and be sure to stop by the restored Mineral Point Opera House.
