Water Department
The City of Dodgeville Water Department is responsible for maintaining approximately 37 miles of water mains, 2,000 service laterals, and 375 fire hydrants. Meter readings are collected by an electronic radio reading system. The Utility has four wells that have an average depth of 800 feet and a combined pumping capacity of 1,800 gallons per minute. The Water Utility maintains one elevated tank (water tower) that has a capacity of 500,000 gallons. The water source is ground water from deep sandstone aquifers. The average daily pumping for the City is 400,000 gallons. The Water Utility is a self-supporting enterprise; 100% of the expenses are paid by the Utility customers monthly bills.
