A New Election Season is Just Around the Corner!

As we approach the end of 2023, City staff are beginning to prep for the upcoming election cycle.  As far as elections go, 2024 will be a big one - culminating with the Presidential Election on November 5th.  The Spring Election on April 2nd, will bring the Presidential Preference along with plenty of state and local races.

At the City, the positions of mayor and one seat of each of the four aldermanic districts are up for re-election.  Citizens interested in running for the following local offices should see their designated filing officer:  Dodgeville School Board - Dodgeville School District Clerk, County Board Supervisor - Iowa County Clerk, Mayor or Alderperson - City of Dodgeville Clerk.  Please see the "Class A - Notice of Election" at the bottom of this page for more information on upcoming races.  Papers can be circulated starting December 1st.

Right now is also the perfect time to register to vote.  Residents who have moved or changed their name or address will need to update their registration information. The fastest and easiest way to do this is by visiting MyVote to update their registration.  Additionally, if you plan to request absentee ballots, please wait until January 1, 2024 to make your calendar year requests (hint - there are no more elections in 2023).

If you've ever thought about being a poll worker, now is the time to submit your information to the Clerk.  The City will appoint their initial list of poll workers for the 2024-2025 election cycle by the end of this year.

Lastly, 2024 will bring a big change in how the City of Dodgeville will conduct their elections.  The City will be implementing "Badger Books" which replace traditional paper poll books.  Badger Books will speed up lines, eliminate human errors, and allow voter participation and election reconciliation to be completed in a more timely fashion.  Have no fear, Badger Books have nothing to do with ballots and they are not connected to the internet.  You'll still be voting with the traditional or express vote paper ballots.
