Badger Books
Beginning with the 2024 Election Cycle, the City will be moving away from traditional paper poll books. In their place, the City will be using what is known as "Badger Books".
What are Badger Books?
- Badger Books are e-poll books also known as electronic poll books. They are a digital version of the traditional paper poll book.
- A Badger Book is a:
- Poll Book (just in digital format)
- Absentee Ballot Log
- Digital Voter Registration Form that can be used for Election Day Registrations (EDR’s)
What are the benefits to Badger Books?
- Quicker voter check-ins and election day registrations
- Faster processing of absentee ballots
- Improve the flow at the polling location
- Improve data quality and minimize poll worker mistakes
- Streamline post-election processes including voter reconciliation and showing voter participation
Are Badger Books connected to the internet?
- Badger Books are not connected to the internet.
- Badger Books use a secure local wireless network to communicate with one another within the polling place.
Are Badger Books safe and secure?
- There are multiple layers of security to protect voter information.
- Badger Books are NEVER connected to the internet
- Each Badger Book is password protected and each poll worker has their own login credentials
- Data on Badger Books is encrypted
